One of the most beautifully-situated farms in East Lothian, Lochhouses boasts a magnificent beach, adjoining the John Muir Country Park between North Berwick and Dunbar which, according to Scottish Holidays and Scotland Breaks travel guides, has less rain and more sunshine than any other part of the UK !
Inland from the fabulous beach, renowned for its white sands and surf, nestle conservation bird sanctuaries, wetlands, little lochs and woodland, forming the perfect setting for walking, cycling, riding, fishing, wildlife and countryside enthusiasts and families alike.
Lochhouses’ fabulous new safari tents snuggle under the trees on the soft sandy dunes by the beach – perfect for the luxury camper who prefers “glamping” to camping ! - or, if you bring the grandparents too, it’s now “gramping” ! All tents have wood-burning stoves, en suite WCs and Hot showers. On site we also have a farm shop, BBQ and campfire facilities as well as our
with chickens, ducks, bunnies, lambs, ponies and guinea fowl as well as a ‘tree house’ and boat! So sorry - no dogs.
Lochhouses is owned and run by the Laird and Lady Laird of Lochhouses and Newbyth, Robert and Michele Dale and has been in Robert’s family since 1892 prior to which was part of the Earl of Haddington’s majestic Tyninghame Estate. Lochhouses is an ideal setting for birthdays (and we’ve had many celebrated here from 4 to 70 year olds !), anniversaries, celebrations (sorry – no “hen” or “stag” parties) and weddings (we’ve even had the bride and groom ride back to the honeymoon tent ), so for bigger events like this we’ve teamed up with Myreton Marquees, Red KiteYurts and Highland Tipis who can install a party marquee, yurt, tent or tipi on site (though you will have to reserve all 7 tents on site for you and your guests). If you want a celebration close-by but not on site, you can hire the log cabin in the woods overlooking the beach (see ‘friends’).
